Four puzzles that stay the same for good: play them in any order, stop when you like, and come back to finish.
About the puzzles in this set
Hidden Word
Five letters and six tries. The answer comes from the most common two thirds of the English five-letter words.
A round tile tells you where its letter is not, as well as that it is in the word — do not put it back in the same place.
Skyscrapers
A 5 × 5 grid in which the heights 1 to 5 appear once in every row and once in every column. 11 of the 20 edge clues are printed, and no tower is given.
There are 3 clues of 1 on the edge: the tallest tower stands in the cell right next to each of them.
Golf
Seven columns of five cards, 16 cards in the stock and one on the pile. The solver cleared this deal in 49 moves, turning 14 of the stock cards.
Starting card of the pile: the 4. Look for a long up-and-down run before turning a stock card — the stock has no second pass.
Four in a Row
Dark to move and win within 3 moves, whatever the other side replies. Key ideas: forcing sequence, vertical line.
Look for a first move that forces a reply, then one more that creates two threats at once.
