Four puzzles that stay the same for good: play them in any order, stop when you like, and come back to finish.

About the puzzles in this set

Hidden Word

Five letters and six tries. The answer comes from the most common third of the English five-letter words.

If two guesses leave you with few vowels, think of a double letter: about three answers in ten repeat one.

Skyscrapers

A 4 × 4 grid in which the heights 1 to 4 appear once in every row and once in every column. 12 of the 16 edge clues are printed, and 2 towers are already standing.

There are 3 clues of 1 on the edge: the tallest tower stands in the cell right next to each of them.

Golf

Seven columns of five cards, 16 cards in the stock and one on the pile. The solver cleared this deal in 46 moves, turning 11 of the stock cards.

An ace sits on top of a column. An ace only takes a two, so a two on the pile is worth more than it looks.

Four in a Row

Dark to move and win within 2 moves, whatever the other side replies. Key ideas: block first, double threat, diagonal line.

Two moves means a double threat: your first disc should leave two different cells that each complete four.
